The .500 Jeffery was at one time the most powerfull sporting cartridge available, designed as an alternative to the 505 Gibbs which wouldn't fit in a standard Mauser action rifle. It is a pure African big game cartridge and will be a challenge to handle for an untrained shooter. Modern advancements in powders and bullets allow it to fire very heavy projectiles with excellent ballistics.
